This article is about how the immune systems of the endangered Galapagos sea lions are in overdrive because of harmful activity by people. These sea lions are more prone to starvation because of exposure to human influences like pets and pollution. These things can impair the level of their immunity, making them less able to hunt.
I found this interesting because I never realized how we were threatening this already endangered animal. I think that protecting these animals is very important because they are a part of the ecosystem and id rather not have a species of animals go extinct during my lifetime.
This article is important because from this we can learn how to help protect these endangered animals from ourselves. The Zoological Society of London is still addressing the threats faced by these sea lions by carrying out further research into the methods driving the described patterns.
